Our story is simple- Young minds, who have dreams and ideas but need a place where they can express them without the pressure of being judged.
We want to tell everyone what we think, how we dream and why our opinion matters.
The story of TEDx Tamahere Youth is one where a bunch of students came together to create an even larger dream for their fellow students, juniors and seniors. This is not a competition, but a collective stage. Everyone is welcome to express- through art, music, speech, drama, volunteering or any other format that works for you. Lets build a society which celebrates differences and invites diversity of thought an daction.
About the idea
This is where our journey begins. We are a group of 13-15 year old students, who are passionate about th eworld, about our community and about change that brings positivity and growth for the society.
We aim to create a platform where youth can express its visions, thoughts, ideas, aspirations, and even question th estatus quo.
TEDx Tamahere Youth is an initiative to make th eadults see the world from the lens of the youth, and join th ediscussion as equals and not as caregivers.
About the Founder
Abir Mahajan, a 13 year old student wanted to bring the vision of a TED talk to his local community. while TED talks are internationally respected and watched by millions, who seek inspiration from this format of public speaking, for Abir it was about representation.
"I feel NZ is a unique country with a unique cultural landscape. We have many different cultures, religions an dbeliefs co-existing in most harmoniois way, and the youth of the country can now take this forward with their vison and ideas."
Abir feels that young minds have the drive and th epassion but often lack environment where team work and initiative are appreciated.
He dreams of creating a regular platform where young minds can come and engage with each other without any competition.
Meet the team
Abir Mahajan- Founder/ Lead Organiser- Abir is passionate about debating, public speaking and loves to try new things. Abir is passionate about his community and wants to create a lasting impact for his city.
Olivia Li- Olivia is passionate about change in the most positive way. she is hard working, focused and extremely focused and goal oriented. She knows how to be a team player and still find a way to shine.
Jaden Lee- Jaden is a master at his work. He has the technical skills and spirit to succeed in everything that he does. He diligently works to bring his ideas to life and knows how to be dependable for his team.
